Wholesale & Distribution Debt Recovery
Trade-account arrears can originate in hundreds of deliveries, credit notes and returns—so payment chasing needs reliable order-level evidence.
Discuss your accounts ↗THE RECOVERY CHALLENGE
Wholesale ledgers often mix current orders, historic invoices, partial payments, credit limits, returns and disputed delivery quantities.
Match the commercial paperwork
Bring together purchase orders, delivery notes, signed receipts, agreed prices and the invoice statement. Check whether a disputed shipment legitimately affects the balance being chased.
Separate short-payments from non-payment
A debtor may have withheld only the value of a shortage or damaged goods. Split undisputed amounts from contested items and seek payment against the correct reconciled figure.
Check the account holder
Confirm the legal trading entity, whether the account is held by a limited company or an individual, and which agreed credit terms govern each order.
Prevent recurring arrears
A structured credit-control programme can flag accounts before further supply becomes exposed. Credit-limit and sales decisions should remain with the instructing business.
Documents to have ready
- Signed trade application and terms
- Order and delivery evidence
- Returns, credit notes and partial receipts
- Account ageing and authority for further supply decisions
Sector question
Should every overdue trade invoice be sent to a collector immediately?
Not necessarily. First check whether billing or delivery disputes can be corrected internally, then determine when external contact is proportionate.
