Commission-Based Commercial Debt Recovery

A commission fee aligns part of the supplier’s income with collections received—but attribution rules and agreed costs matter as much as the percentage.

WHO THIS HELPS

Businesses comparing commission-only, hybrid and activity-fee pricing for overdue commercial accounts and larger ledgers.

Proposed service, not live onboarding: Avencrest is in development. The website explains the intended approach; enquiries and account instructions are not yet accepted electronically.

Define the recovered amount first

Commission should normally reference attributable funds actually received and verified by the creditor, not an agent’s verbal promise or an arrangement that later defaults.

Avoid unclear double charging

If the client purchases the £149 Complete bundle, that covers specified activity; any commission is additional only if explicitly included in signed terms. Single activity prices must not be charged again for included steps without approval.

Different cases need different economics

Small undisputed balances, long-aged receivables and portfolio assignments have very different expected work and recovery rates. Avencrest advertises commission from 1% as a negotiating starting point, not an unconditional universal fee.

Review any success-only proposal separately

A genuine no-recovery-no-fee arrangement transfers risk to the provider. Whether it is commercially viable depends on case size, age, collectability, expected handling costs and legal scope; it is not a standard published Avencrest package.

What to prepare before an instruction

  • Definition of attributable payment and receipt date
  • Treatment of VAT, refunds, part-payments and instalments
  • Commencement, termination and attribution window
  • Explicit confirmation of which fixed fees also apply

A question we often expect

Is the advertised 1% always available?

No. It is an indicative starting point for negotiation. Pricing depends on the account or portfolio and a written agreement.

Published as a proposed service overview, October 2026. This is general commercial information, not legal advice. Debt type, case status, geography, data-handling requirements and written client terms determine whether any assignment can be accepted.
